ICTP announces a new grant that enables organizations in developing countries to offer online learning resources.
The grant includes hardware and software for ICTP's award-winning "openEyA" automated recording system, developed to archive and share scientific lectures online. The easy-to-use, low-cost system requires no human intervention during recording and post-processing, and has low-bandwidth friendly features, making it an ideal solution for institutes in regions with less-than optimal internet connections.
"This new grant offers an off-the-shelf solution for online learning," said Enrique Canessa of ICTP's Science Dissemination Unit, which developed the openEyA system.
The deadline for the grant, which is available to non-profit institutions located in UN, UNESCO or IAEA member countries, is 25 February 2010. For more details, click here.
