ICTP Inaugurates SDU Lab/Seminar Room

A new room dedicated to the electronic dissemination of science has been inaugurated by ICTP scientists, staff members and guests. The room is mainly for educational and research activities coordinated by the Centre's Science Dissemination Unit (SDU) but is open to the whole ICTP community.

The SDU Lab/Seminar Room is equipped with technology that enables web conferencing and digital lecture presentations. The facility includes a 55-inch LED TV, standard projector equipment, a traditional blackboard, and WiFi access; it will soon have the SDU's EyA automated recording system in place too.

The room is divided into two sections: a seminar room that can hold about 18 people; and a smaller discussion room with a round table that can accommodate several people.

Appropriately, the SDU Lab's first official activity was to host a two-day, international meeting on "New online resources to foster physics and mathematics education in the developing world".
