Nigerian legislators visited ICTP from 20 to 22 August 2012 as part of a study mission that aimed at strengthening an existing agreement between ICTP and Nigeria.
Since 2010, ICTP has been playing an advisory role with the Nigerian National Assembly to improve the country's science and technology policies.
Discussions focused on increasing visits by ICTP researchers to the National Assembly and the role of legislators in implementing laws to improve science and technology, among other things.
Professor Sandro Radicella, head of Telecommunications/ICT for Development Laboratory, said that ICTP would try and facilitate visits for Nigerian policy makers and researchers, especially those dealing with topics like climate change and telecommunication.
Senator Uche Chukwumerije, Chairman, Senate Committee on Education, Senator Boroffice Ajayi, Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, Chairman, House Committee on Education, and Hon. Bilyaminu Shinkafi, Member, House Committee on Education were part of the Nigerian delegation to ICTP.
