ICTP Director Fernando Quevedo has been appointed as Ex-officio
Council Member of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World
(TWAS), at its 12th General Conference and 23rd General Meeting
being held this week Tianjin, China.
More than 400 scientists from around the world are attending the
four-day event, where they will be treated to a rich programme of
scientific lectures as well as a celebration of scientific
excellence throughout the developing world.
With the theme "Science and Sustainability", the meeting includes
sessions on a broad range of scientific fields, along with talks by
policymakers on science, technology and innovation for economic
growth.
TWAS also will announce the winners of its prestigious
prizes--including the Abdus Salam Medal and the Ernesto Illy
Trieste Science Prize--during the General Conference.
