ICTP's 2014 Distinguished Salam Lectures, delivered by renowned condensed matter physicist Subir Sachdev, is streamed live on the ICTP Website.
The week-long series, titled "Theory of Quantum Matter: from Quantum Fields to Strings", runs daily from 27 to 30 January 2014 starting at 16:30 GMT +1 in the ICTP Main Lecture Hall.
To understand the properties of materials at the microscopic
level has been the driving force behind the research of Sachdev.
Indeed, the past few decades have seen exciting developments in
technologically important materials--such as high-temperature
superconductors--thanks to a growing understanding of the subatomic
world of quantum physics.
Sachdev will talk about these and other quantum-related topics
during the lecture series, which is free and open to the
public.
Sachdev is a professor of physics at Harvard University, and was
also on the physics faculty of Yale University.
The Salam Distinguished Lectures are an annual series of talks by
renowned, active scientists to provide a review of important
research developments as well as a visionary forward view.
