ICTP is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and in
honour of the occasion offered a public reading of important
historical texts related to its founding in 1964.
On Wednesday 23 April in the Marie Curie
Library, ICTP scientists, staff and students read
selections from a range of books that record the remarkable early
history of the Centre as well as highlighting the personality and
science of founder Abdus Salam. Included amongst the readers was
Piero Budinich, son of the late ICTP co-founder Paolo
Budinich.
The readings coincided with the United Nation's World Book and
Copyright Day, an annual event celebrated around the
world to promote reading and the cultural aspects of books.
