Nominations Open for 2015 Elsevier Foundation Awards in Physics and Mathematics
Supporting Budding Talent

ICTP is supporting an award to be given to women scientists in the developing world.

The 2015 Elsevier Foundation Awards in Physics and Maths will be given to five scientists in the early stages of their careers, with the aim of creating role models for other women to follow, a step that is critical for retaining top talent and building a stronger research culture in developing countries.

The Awards rotate between disciplines; because this year's focus is on physics and mathematics, ICTP is enriching the US$5,000 cash prizes with free attendance and accommodation at one of the Centre's renowned workshops or conferences in Trieste, Italy.

The Award was established in 2012 by the Elsevier Foundation, the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) to recognize the achievements of women scientists in the early stages of their careers.

In addition to the cash prize and the ICTP offer, winners will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to be held in San Jose, California, and one year's access to Elsevier's ScienceDirect and Scopus journals.
Details about eligibility, nomination and selection processes and nomination forms are available on the OSWD webpage

Nomination deadline is 17 October 2014.
