ICTP is once again opening its doors to the public for the second edition of its Trieste Mini Maker Faire. This year's event will be held on the weekend of 9 and 10 May at ICTP's Miramare Campus, and is organized by ICTP in collaboration with the Immaginario Scientifico Science Museum and the local newspaper Il Piccolo (of the Espresso Group) as its main media partner.
If you are a Maker and want to participate, go to the Trieste Mini Maker Faire website and register for free; the deadline is 1 March 2015.
A Maker Faire is a show-and-tell event where innovators ("makers") can display their creations, present their ideas and share what they are learning with the general public. It is primarily designed to showcase makers who are exploring new forms and new technologies, such as Arduino microcontrollers and personal 3D printing. But it also features innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance and craft.
The goal is to provide a platform for invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and celebrate the "Maker movement". Makers may be tech enthusiasts, crafters, homesteaders, scientists or garage tinkerers.
The Trieste Mini Maker Faire will bring together and uncover makers, inventors, scientists, crafters, artists and all other passionate creative enthusiasts from the Triveneto region of Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and beyond. While exhibiting their projects, participants will also share their passion for making and inspire visitors to make things themselves. Entrance to the event is free and open to everybody.
Updated information and details of the event will be posted on the website: www.makerfairetrieste.it
Trieste Mini Maker Faire is independently organized under license from Maker Media, Inc.
