ICTP's Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics (CMSP) section has announced a call for applications for short-term visit grants and postdoctoral fellowships for 2023. The application deadline for both opportunities is 20 December 2022.
The purpose of the short-term visits is for visiting scientists to perform their own theoretical studies in CMSP areas of expertise, in close interaction with the section's resident researchers and visiting scientists. The visits are for a maximum period of one month.
Scientists from developing countries are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to requests for visits outside the summer period. More details about the application requirements can be found here.
The CMSP postdoctoral positions start in autumn 2023; applications are sought from outstanding young scientists of any nationality with a strong research record.
With about 50 academic members (faculty, visitors, postdocs and graduate students), an intense programme of workshops and conferences, and close collaborations with local scientific institutions such as SISSA, Elettra, and the University of Trieste, the CMSP section provides a vibrant international research environment. Postdoctoral fellows are also encouraged, and supported, to participate in activities in developing countries in order to promote the mission of ICTP.
Fellows must have completed a PhD in physics or related disciplines prior to the start of their fellowship. Preference will be given to applicants in the areas of expertise of the CMSP group; candidates who have obtained their PhD after 2019 will be given priority.
ICTP offers internationally competitive remuneration and a number of benefits. Appointments will be made for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a further year. Read more about the opportunity and how to apply.
