ICTP's Quantitative Life Sciences (QLS) section has announced a call for a postdoctoral fellowship that would start in the spring or summer of 2023. The application deadline is 31 October 2022.
The QLS section provides a unique international, multidisciplinary research environment for postdoctoral fellows with about 15 group members (faculty, postdocs, graduate students and visitors), an intense programme of workshops and conferences, close collaborations with local institutions (SISSA, ICGEB, Trieste University) and internationally-renowned research institutions. Postdoctoral fellows are encouraged, and supported, to participate in activities in developing countries in order to promote the mission of the ICTP and to contribute to the teaching activities of the QLS Postgraduate Diploma programme.
Candidates should have a background in statistical physics and/or applied mathematics, and be able to carry active multidisciplinary research in any of the areas of the QLS section, including but not limited to:
- statistical physics of information processing
- stochastic thermodynamics
- biological physics
- ecology and evolution
- machine learning
- animal behavior
- computational social sciences
Candidates with expertise in theoretical aspects, data analysis and numerical simulations are especially encouraged to apply.
