Spirit of Salam Award Ceremony

The Spirit of Abdus Salam Award was set up by the family of Nobel Prize winner and ICTP founder Abdus Salam. When establishing the prize in 2014, they wanted to celebrate Salam’s enduring vision by singling out individuals in the ICTP community who have kept his spirit alive. The award recognises those within the extended ICTP family of scientists and non-scientists, and administrative staff alike who have worked tirelessly to further Abdus Salam's humanitarian  passion  and vision for the cooperation, promotion and development of science and technology in the developing world.

The recipients of the 2024 Spirit of Salam Award are Rosanna Sain, former secretary of ICTP's High Energy, Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics (HECAP) section, Luciano Maiani, former chairperson of the ICTP Scientific Council, and Fabio Zwirner, former representative of the Italian Government on the ICTP Steering Committee.

The 2024 Spirit of Salam Award Ceremony will take place on 17 December at 15:30 hrs.
